Code of Conduct

Christ College's Code of Conduct provides a foundation for behavior that all members of our academic community—faculty, staff, students, visitors—should adhere to. Its goal is to encourage an atmosphere that values inclusion, integrity, and respect. We hope to foster a culture of study, cooperation, and personal development by upholding this code.

Responsibilities of Principal

The Principal shall:

  • • Align the College activities with the Vision and Mission of the College;
  • • Submit recommendations for appointments to all positions, including those for contract, part-time, and daily wage workers;
  • • Declare probation, regularize services, and release increments for both teaching and non-teaching staff;
  • • Conduct staff performance reviews;
  • • Have the authority to approve maternity benefits, half-pay leave, and earned leave up to the level of department heads, except himself;
  • • Authorized to start disciplinary actions and administer penalties such as warnings, censure, fines, delaying promotions, withholding raises, and recovering financial losses from the employee;
  • • Send cases like suspension, removal, or termination to the governing body;
  • • Be assisted by the Finance Committee in financial administration;
  • • Incur expenses within budgetary limits as established by the Governing body;
  • • Execute contracts on behalf of the college with Governing body approval;
  • • Transmit monthly salary bills to the finance committee;
  • • Countersign scholarship invoices for students;
  • • Approve acquisitions like stationery and consumables within authorized budget limits.

Responsibilities of Faculty Members

Faculty Members shall:

  • • Maintain responsible behaviour and mannerisms expected of them by the community;
  • • Handle their personal affairs with the respect due to their career;
  • • Continuously advance professionally through research and study;
  • • Participate in professional meetings, seminars, conferences, etc., to contribute towards the advancement of knowledge;
  • • Remain members of professional associations for career and educational development;
  • • Perform duties diligently, including teaching, tutorials, practicals, and research;
  • • Prohibit plagiarism and other unethical behaviour;
  • • Help in college educational responsibilities, admissions, counselling, exams, invigilation, and evaluation;
  • • Participate in extracurricular, co-curricular, and extension activities like community service.

Faculty Members and Students

Faculty members shall:

  • • Respect students' right to free speech and dignity;
  • • Treat students fairly, regardless of attributes like gender, caste, political affiliation, or religion;
  • • Recognize students’ unique abilities and cater to their needs;
  • • Encourage academic, personal, and social growth;
  • • Instill values of inquiry, scientific temperament, democracy, patriotism, and peace;
  • • Respect students and avoid spiteful actions;
  • • Base merit determination solely on student achievement;
  • • Provide guidance outside school hours without expecting rewards;
  • • Help students understand national objectives and heritage and avoid influencing them to harm others.
