Modern pedagogies and ICT/infrastructure facilities are used in the teaching-learning process. The college places a strong emphasis on using student-centric or participatory teaching methodologies to foster critical and creative thinking as well as the development of problem-solving abilities in its students. Students can participate in and organize value-added certificate/diploma courses, practical training and workshops, field projects, internships, and other opportunities that broaden their knowledge beyond the classroom.
The strict adherence to discipline on campus is one of the college's distinguishing features and the reason it is one of the most popular colleges in Kattapana. The principal personally meets with each student and their parent or guardian during the admissions process to acquaint them with the fundamental principles of the school. During the academic year, a lot of emphasis is placed on students' behavior, ID card wearing, punctuality, and dress code.
Every class of students is given a mentor at the start of the academic year to assist them in adjusting to college life and building positive relationships with their teachers. In addition to ensuring that students perform well academically, mentors also help students develop self-confidence, instill human values, and gain insight into their problems. During PTA, they also converse with each student's parents or guardians. A councilor is available to students on campus as well. Additionally, a variety of subjects supporting the students' overall development are covered in the sporadic value education sessions.
There are many opportunities available for students to organize and take part in intercollegiate national and state events, such as webinars, seminars, and interclass or group competitions. Students can assume leadership roles through the Students' Council, which is made up of class representatives. Additionally, the NSS's activities support the students' overall growth.
The college works to encourage students to be physically active and fit, which tangentially improves their ability to learn. Students are encouraged to take part in intergroup competitions in sports like football, kabbadi, handball, athletics, and other activities because sports are highly valued. For students who are interested, the college also hosts regular yoga sessions. Every student on campus has access to the gymnasium/sports room.
The college starts all of its programs and events, including morning ones, by asking God's blessings. Every year, the college plans student retreats.
In addition to creating a community of young people aware of their civic and social duties, the college works to instill in its students a spirit of service. On socially relevant themes, the various departments, clubs, cells, committees, and street plays host lectures, workshops, protests, and street plays. Various activities such as cleanliness drives, tree plantation drives, blood donations camps, old age home visits, orphanage visits, Christmas cake distribution for private/public bus staff, charity works and the like are organized. In addition, the college commenced an outreach program for the Anganavadi students of Paliyakudi, a tribal settlement, in an effort to set an example of a socially conscious mindset.
Through its green policies and by demonstrating a number of green practices, the college hopes to promote and instill an environmentally friendly way of living. The campus features water pumps, LED lighting, a vermicomposting unit, and a rainwater harvesting unit. In addition, there is a green garden, bird water feeder, kitchen garden, and bird nesting habitat. Each of these aims to raise students' awareness of environmental issues.
